Dr. Samrat Kar, Consultant Psychiatrist, founder & trustee of The Brain Foundation, India, is author of many acclaimed articles and books in Odia, Hindi and English languages. This website is a humble attempt by the author to educate people on psychiatric and psychological diseases and to provide a tool for self-assessment and further care. Dr. Kar has received various State and National awards for his contribution to the society in the field of creating awareness about mental health and its cure in general public. He has attended number of State and National level seminars and workshops and shared experience and well appreciated by fellow Psychiatrists. He is a regular columnist in popular newspapers, a regular panelist in TV and Radio programs.
He has authored three popular Odia books “Mana Katha Janantu, Manare Achi Kana & Manasika Roga” on mental health and its awareness in simple story format for better understanding of common man. One of these books is also published in Hindi language “Man Ki Baat Janiye”.
Dr. Kar has won many awards and accolades for his scientific papers.
- Winner of Prof. G.C. Baral Award as the best scientific paper in Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society, Odisha State Branch.
- Winner of Sidharatha Memorial Award as the best Post Graduate scientific paper in Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society, Eastern Zone Branch at Assam.
- Winner of Prof. B. Das Award as the best published scientific paper in Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society, Odisha State Branch, Rourkela.
He is a Member, Indian Psychiatric Society, Indian Association of Private Psychiatry, Indian Association of Geriatric Psychiatry. He is also a member of Utkal Sahitya Samaja, Old Student Association of Ravenshaw Collegiate School, Cuttack Club and OCA Club, Cuttack.
He Conducts regular Mental Health Camps at various rural places where there are no mental health facilities and treats many patients for free.
